Sent a patch adding "Patch-salt: " to the appropriate list, which was 
interesting to search for, not having too great of a sense of darcs' 
repository organization.

Well, Patch-salt isn't really an extension field to darcs as the 
proposal is to make it standard, by default, always on in darcs.  On the 
other hand, extending the current ignore support to support a Regex such 
as "^X\-([\w\-]+): " might provide a useful extension area for third 
party tools to use (for example "X-Tailor-Something: ").
