Did anyone see an appimage somewhere?
At least at https://appimage.github.io/ there is no sign of that.
I ask because this is the easiest way to get an application running - simply start and enjoy, no prerequisistion needed. Remove => simply delete.

A valid workaround (especially for those folks who prefer using the LTS releases) is to use the snap verison of Darktable - https://snapcraft.io/darktable.

However, my concern is that it's not officially maintained by the Darktable community (it is maintained by the individual); it would be great to see Darktable project maintaining the snap package officially.

PS. Flatpak version exists as well, which is maintained by the Flathub community - https://flathub.org/apps/details/org.darktable.Darktable

Thanks for response.  Have progressed somewhat:  It should only be
    included in
Ubuntu via inclusion in Debian upstream, but it is now too late
    (past feature
freeze) for inclusion in Ubuntu even if it was updated in Debian.
    However one
person has emerged who is hoping to include in Ubuntu Studio
    Backports, and has
already received permission for an inclusion Exception for that.
    So for now it
    is just wait and see.
