Interesting query! In the case of the manual, this would be a subset of the
fourth definition:
4: electronic equipment that provides visual images of varying
electrical quantities [syn: {oscilloscope}, {scope},
{cathode-ray oscilloscope}, {CRO}]
The use of this equipment became standard in video work to understand the video
signal. Hence a video scope is a more specific version of this. See, for
