I answer your questions: git is the version control software used to maintain darktable. You can download it from https://gitforwindows.org<https://gitforwindows.org/>. I don't think that installing the lua scripts will help with your darktable folder opening problem.
What folder are your pictures in? Are there other folders under the main one that also contain pictures? Both cases: The folder opens but the pictures doesn t finish opening. they stay " processing" So, as I can´ t work, I close Darktable. But that pictures, continue processing and Darktable closes in a wrong way. It stays opened background.After that, I try to open Darktable and I can´t. It appers the message to delete that LOCK files. I delete them and the same story. If you are trying to just import the top level folder and get all of the pictures, do you have the recursive option checked in the settings (gear wheel at the upper right of the lighttable)? Import folder, at the top left , and open folder. But pictures doesn t finish opening. What I can t understand, is that I uninstalled and re intsalled a new version, and the same problem. Yesterday I was 2 hours with the Microsoft technitian but windows is ok. We can ´t find the solution and told me that the program has a failure. I do not think darktable will not continue until you make a choice. The lua scripts installer simply offers you an easy way to install the lua scripts. If you don't want to install them, and don't want to see the installer again, select "don't show this again" and click the button You could also just minimize it and continue using darktable.
