Handling files in DT is much more difficult (for me) than using a file manager or the command-line. I think the skulls are a really weird option on dt's part, since you can't do *anything* in dt to resolve the problem. You either have to fix the file locations (move them back, restore deleted files etc.), or fix things in the DB. I think a better option would be at least give users an option to clean up (remove images from the DB if they are not found, after a prompt or by clicking a button to launch the cleanup). But I digress :)
I used to have a 640 GB disk; I then replaced this with an SSD and a 3 TB disk. I moved the directory with my photos (/home/kofa/darktable) to a directory on the new drive HDD; created my home directory (/home/kofa) on the SSD, and symlinked the directory on the new HDD to the path where dt knew my images to be, inside my home (now residing on the SSD). This did not cause any problem. But that's simply my solution; if others find something works better for them, I'm happy for them :-) Kofa ____________________________________________________________________________ darktable user mailing list to unsubscribe send a mail to darktable-user+unsubscr...@lists.darktable.org
