When I right mouse click on my XFCE desktop (or in my File Manager) it
offers the option of creating a new Folder (not Directory). Maybe it is
different on Patrick's system!

I mean the scrollbar in lighttable on the right side or the
scrollbar on the right side when choosing a folder and I have to
scroll down. I I am not happy with the sensitivity of my Logitech
G403 mouse, played a lot with the settings of the mouse and did
some configuration with Windows, normally I use XUbuntu 19.10
(XFCE). Maybe I have to look for another theme, where the scrollbar
has more contrast, an alternative to a small scrollbar. Sometimes
it is hard to scroll down because I am not in the middle of the
scrollbar and nothing happens. This problem exists since I use an
UHD monitor.

Depending on your level of revision this may or may not work for
you.
there is an aid to scrolling,
<ctrl><alt><mouse-wheel>
so you don't have to be "exactly" positioned on the scrollbar. It
works over the text rather than the scrollbar, maybe both, haven't
tried.
but you surely are not selecting directories on the right side ????
ps: darktable does not use "folders", that's windows.
Patrick, the mouse wheel works and there is no difference, if I press
ctrl or alt or both. With a lot directories ;-) the wheel is not
comfortable too. Imagine I have 100s of directories and I have to
choose one in the last third.

ctrl or alt will NOT work, requires <ctrl><alt><mouse-wheel>
but, if we are talking about the "collect images" window on the LEFT, just
rolling the mouse-wheel works, <ctrl><alt> is/are not required.
BTW, can you explain the difference between folder and directory, for a
non-native English speaker I cannot see a difference. At the end it
counts for me, that it does what I want.
a directory is a container for files while a folder is for paper or
micro$oft speakers.
