Notice that this is only important if there is not a system wide monitor color profile, or if for some reason you want to override it. By default darktable will look for Xatom or colord and interact directly with them, without you needing to do anything. You can test if darktable sees something like this by running darktable-cmtest on a command line. (Xatom and colord are programs that set the monitor profile system wide, I don't know which is available on Linux Mint.)
