actually the OpenInExplorer was not really what I was looking for. My goal was to select the folder in the collection panel while setting this to the "folder" filter.

But, I have a solution now:

While searching for a way I could implement this with a lua script by myself I stumbled across the CollectHelper lua script that has exactly that function. You have to enable the script and then enable the "CollectHelper: Folder" option in the preferences/lua options. This will add a button the the "selected images" panel that switches the collection to folder view and opens the folder of the selected image.

That is what I was missing.
