Just a suggestion.
blendif() is pretty powerful, but at least to the uninitiated a bit
difficult to use as it requires to visualize the image decomposed to
it's channels to see where which ones to use and where to put the
sliders. One can work around with the colour picker of course but it's
quite a wilde guessing if a or R is a better choice e.g.
At least to me it was always quite helpful to decompose an image in Gimp
to various channels as gray scale to see which one might give a good
mask for a potential blendif. (E.g. though there is a pretty nice Lab
sharpen plugin for the Gimp I tend to decompose, sharpen & blur and
recompose instead, as I have a better feeling for what's going on.)
I think it would be a great help to those willing to learn if dt could
just display an images per channel, thus display the channel structure
by means of grayscale images. IMHO this would make an educated selection
of channels quite a bit easier if you're not used to see an L channel
instead of a full image.
I'm not sure if this is easy to do though.
