responded to me privately by saying what follows. I thought I should
include it in the Darktable-users mailing list since someone else might
want to know the answer.

"By right clicking on the slider, a panel drops down, where you can make
slighter changes or even type the value you want. It's amazing the way
you can control the sliders this way."

Actually, I had already discovered this myself. But when I right click
I get a bunch of light curves, with one highlighted. I can change the
setting by moving the highlighted curve to the right or left where it
takes the shape of one of the lighter curves. But, although I can make
small changes to the setting this way, I don't understand the function
of th curves. Is this all described somewhere in the documentation, or
elsewhere?

When using White balance and other modules such a crop and rotate, I
often want to make small adjustments. It is difficult to do
that using
the sliders because I typically overshoot. I seem to remember
at one
point, or, perhaps in another program, I could change a setting
by
another method than moving the slider and thereby make a small
change.
Are there ways to do that with darktable that I am missing?

There does seem to be a small arrow to the right, but when I try
to
click on that, say, when rotating, I get a very large change.
Am I
        doing something wrong?
