My way:
1. You buy an IT8 target (model C1) at
http://www.targets.coloraid.de/ for 25€ + shipping.
2. You take a picture of it with your best lens in direct sunlight,
but let it use only half of the viewframe width. Avoid glare.
Take an exposure series, and select the raw for which the white
patch (GS0) has an L value closest to 90 with the colour picker
of Darktable. (Mind to set the display profile to "linear RGB"
before using the colour picker.)
3. dcraw -M -o 0 -4 -T -r 1 1 1 1 -H 1 <rawfile>
4. scanin -p -a <tiff file>
5. colprof -am <tiff filename without file extension>
6. xicclu -v 0 -s 255 -f if -p l -i a <tiff filename without file
extension>.icc
7. Enter "100 0 0" RET RET. Note the resulting values, call them R,
G, B.
8. dcraw -M -o 0 -4 -T -r 255/R 255/G 255/B 255/G -b 255/R -H 1 <rawfile>
9. scanin -p -a <tiff file>
10. colprof -as -qu -u <tiff filename without file extension>
You may also try -ax instead of -as, it makes the fidelity even
better, but see http://darktable.org/redmine/issues/9510
The scanin calls may fail to recognize the target rectangle
properly, especially because it fills only part of the picture. You
may open the TIFF in Gimp and pick the x, y coordinates of the four
outer corners of the patch area (attention, the bottom points are
the T-junctions between the greyscale and the colour patches), and
pass the coordinates to scanin in the -F option. Then, it works
definitely.
Tschö,
Torsten.
