If you change the settings in the sharpen module *without* going back in
the history stack, a new item appears in the stack that updates the
settings in that module.
This gives you some level of undo functionality.
To my understanding, compressing the history stack retains only the highest
instance of each module in the stack, so previous settings will be lost
upon compression.
