I have Darktable 1.2.3 from the darktable-release-plus PPA installed on
Mint 15 amd64 with the Cinnamon 1.8.8 desktop. I see the following
strange behaviour:

Start Darktable, maximise the window, close Darktable.

Open Darktable again. There is now a 30 or 40 pixel wide gap at the
right and bottom of the Darktable window behind which the desktop
background can be seen, though there is no window border on the
Darktable window. Also, the minimise (-) and maximise/restore (+)
buttons at the right end of the titlebar won't minimise the window to
the taskbar or change the window size. I can, however, minimise the
window by clicking on the Darktable tile in the taskbar, and if I click
on the tile again then the window is restored correctly maximised to
fill the screen.

When the window is in its strange stage, I can still use the X button to
close the window, and if I do that, and then start Darktable again, it
opens minimised to the taskbar, but when I click on the tile on the
taskbar, the window is restored correctly maximised.

I have uploaded a screen dump of what the window looks like in its
maximised-but-not state to
https://www.dropbox.com/s/qomwzgh72jv4u49/scrdump.jpg.

Everything in the darktable window still seems to work as expected when
this strange window behaviour is happening.

I haven't noticed this same strange behaviour with any other application
that I use.
