Having Linux tools makes 'detective' work a joy :-)
Ultimately those libraries get back to the sources for dcraw.

Running ldd on darktable shows one of its libraries is libGraphicsMagick
That has libraries of its own and running 'strings' on those doesn't
show up the F600EXT.

Going back to the CVS sources of ufraw I see the F600EXR being added
back in 2011 and then vanishing in the current sources, so I wrote to
the author, Niels Kristian, and he tells me that

The color matrix support for the F600EXR is still there.
It is just abbreviated to "Fujifilm F6".

Yes I can find that in the list in the libraries of libGraphicsMagick
along with a few other entries that are clearly abbreviations.

I don't know how the applications recognise that a file which had
'F600EXR" in it is recognized by "F6" -- perhaps come kind of
'abbreviation'. I'll have to ask.

Never the less, there are other modules where the string seen by the
software in the RAW file -- .RAF -- is and is shown as "FinePix F600EXR"
and that cannot be edited on screen. Perhaps there's a way to alter the
file with 'exiftool' so the string embedded there reads "F6", but I
haven't been able to work it out. Perhaps those fields are write
protected.

So yes, you can do what I have done, trace down the libraries and see
what camera names are embedded in them. Of course you may encounter
this shift to abbreviations, in which case go back to earlier revisions
- this is all open source so the source libraries are on-line and most
projects make use of some kind of revision control.

Its not difficult; RTFM for 'ldd' and 'strings' and make notes as you do
the searching of the libraries. The projects all have developer contact
information.

In the worst case ... "Use the Source, Luke".
