The current git darktable appears to do odd things with the picture
sort order if you start it on a directory with no .xmp files. Here's
how the bug looks for me:
- start with a directory with only pictures, no .xmp files. Call
this /var/tmp/test.
- run:
darktable --library :memory: /var/tmp/test
- regardless of what you have preferences set to, the lighttable view
will be in filename order. You can't change this by changing the
order preference.
- give the first image the same rating it already has. The image will
immediately jump to the end of the image list and can't be restored
to the correct order by changing order preferences/etc.
- quit and restart darktable. Now everything works.
In fact everything works the second time if you simply start darktable,
immediately quit (which creates .xmp files these days), and restart it.
Is anyone else seeing this behavior or is it likely to be something
that's gotten damaged in my profile/etc from running all sorts of git
versions of darktable?
