Just did an update and tested removal of a color label with 'sort by color label' activated. The 2 images remained in place until I went to darkroom and back.
Second test: I removed a tag from an item. [All images within this selection require a specific tag.] The item did not dissapear from the group until I went to darkroom and back. this is darktable 1.3+1226~ga985f08 that I just pulled earlier today.
