I am using AMD Catalyst 13.11 Beta V1 (fglrx 13.20.16) and with
makerpm-amd-13.11-betav1.sh from http://www.sebastian-siebert.de/ (that is
openSUSE specific so your mileage may vary) compiling the fglrx driver and
installing it was with no problems at all. 

The only thing error message I have seen so far is the one below and it
doesn't happen often hence I could not pinpoint what triggers it

 "[fglrx:KAS_Mutex_Release] *ERROR* Mutex released without holding it"
