According to the post, this has already been done, compared to a linear mapping.

It just wouldn't make sense, since value is used as a meaningful indicator in 
this mode... although I suppose the whole scale could simply be inverted... 
possibly there could be an "amplify" slider to bias the input, similar to 
software like Sonic Visualizer.
