Exactly, this number is only really meaningfull in the context of preserving 
the original dimensions of scanned documents, etc. If you *aren't* using a 
recent darktable build and need to set this field to make some people happy, 
you can use exiftool:

 exiftool -xresolution=250 -yresolution=250 <filename>

or, if you aren't always exporting to 3000x2000, create a script named 
'8x12.sh':

 width=$( exiftool -b -imagewidth "$1" )
 height=$( exiftool -b -imageheight "$1" )
 if test $width -gt $height
 then resolution=$(expr $width / 12)
 else resolution=$(expr $height / 12)
 fi
 exiftool -xresolution=$resolution -yresolution=$resolution "$1"

and run it on the file before uploading.
