As far as i know, yes. "reject" is encoded this way and stored in the
XMP, too.

I did not see any indications of group information stored in an XMP,
which is also not really reasonable since an XMP file contains metadata
about an specific image. The grouping-feature of darktable does not fit
into the XMP sidecar scheme, because it involves different images.

To persist grouping information, you might assign one or multiple tags
to create some unique reference instead.
