I'm using stable 1.6 too. The problem is a little underhand, that because IMO should be corrected. In the current version, if you enter Z mode the image under the cursor goes full screen. Now, you can apply rate, color label and tags using shorcuts, but it works *only if you have the mouse on the displayed image*. In a multi-monitor configuration I can move the mouse cursor on the other monitor, outside the image. Then if I use shortcuts to apply label/rating/tag, they are applied to selected images (white border) and *not* to the displayed image.
