WTF is going on then?

I've been away from DT for a couple of months but in the past I've
always been able to process the Fuji F600EXR.

I took the apparent omission up with the authors of rawspeed & uraw
last year and they told me quite explicitly that it WAS supported and
that the "abbreviation' was part of of a 'condensation' of similar
definitions.

The key thing I want to press home is that as recently as 4 months ago I
could process these raw files. heck, last Christmas I made up both
Christmas e-cards as well a to jpegs to the local print shop and had
10x8s processed and framed as Christmas presents for many friends.

When did this change? I don't know, I haven't had occasion to use DT in
the last few moths.

But this I know and know full well, it used to be able to process my
Fuji F600EXR.

Just for the **** I regressed to the version that came with my
distribution, 1.2.3-2.5.1
With this I can process the Fuji F600EXR just fine; no error messages,
lovely output files, png, jpg, pdf and more.

I changed nothing else.
Not ufraw, not rawspeed, no other libraries.
Just darktable from 1.7 back to 1.2

Again I ran darktable 1.2 with "-d all" and watched the output.
No comment at all about a problem finding the F600! NONE!

I suppose i could try doing step and repeat from 1.2 all the way up to
1.6 or 1.7 and tell you just where the change occurred but surely the
developers keep records of the deltas.

So I ask again, what changed?
it worked before.
it doesn't work now.

The best I can figure is that darktable used to accept abbreviations but
now doesn't. That's just a guess. maybe the code mavens can look-see.
