David,

The latest DSPLink, i.e. DSPLink 1.60 adds some features into the build system,
that make it significantly easier to use with Linux kernel build system and
hence, recent Linux kernels. In fact, we have also published a wiki page on how
to build DSPLink using kbuild:
http://tiexpressdsp.com/wiki/index.php?title=Building_DSPLink_with_kbuild

In addition, the dsplinkcfg.pl script has been made into a command-line
version, so that it can be invoked from a scriptable build system to generate
the CURRENTCFG.MK file required for DSPLink build configuration.

However, in the current DSPLink 1.xx versions, we are not making further
efforts to bring DSPLink into the mainline, because we foresee significant
changes required within internal DSPLink architecture to enable usage as any
other Linux driver. We are planning to take this up in the next-generation
version of DSPLink that modularizes DSPLink further and specifically targets
Linux'ization as one of the activities. This would not only make DSPLink more
Linux friendly, but would internally structure it such that it matches the look
and feel of other Linux drivers. This activity is currently only in the
planning stage, but we will keep the community in the loop for the discussions.
Towards that, we would really appreciate feedback on what are the main things
in DSPLink that are currently 'pain areas' when working on community Linux.

Regards,
Mugdha

Are there plans to integrate it into mainline?
