If I read "linux-ization" as "merging to mainline" -- though it's
not clear if that is what you mean -- then the short answer to my
question is that there are notions of such a merge, but they're
only in very early stages ... so a merge in 2009 won't happen, and
one in 2010 seems unlikely too.

There are some patches, ISTR from Nokia, to talk to OMAP3 C64x+
DSP ... which seem like they'll merge to mainline for 2.6.30.
They just missed the 2.6.29 merge window.

I'm not a DSPLink user, but it looks to me like some "pain" will
be a part of the future because of that divergence.  In general,
relying on out-of-mainline code for critical features makes pain.
