do you have the node cataloged on the users that don't work using just the DNS name i.e. industrial where as the full name would be industrial.ecolab.com? Thinking if they are on one domain it may work and not work on another domain. or
are you using a services file and the port number is not valid in their services file? -----Original Message----- From: McLeod, Scott [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, November 28, 2001 2:04 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: DB2EUG: Client Connection Error HELP! I don't know where to turn on this one. I looked at everything I know. Perhaps one of you has seen something like this! I have dozens of users that connect to DB2/6000 from their NT machines using DB2 clients. They defined the database using Client Configuration Assistant. Then use the "Test Connection" button. A few of them can connect just fine. The vast majority get this error: [IBM][CLI Driver] SQL30081N A communication error has been detected. Communication protocol being used: "TCP/IP". Communication API being used: "SOCKETS". Location where the error was detected: "". Communication function detecting the error: "connect". Protocol specific error code(s): "10061", "*", "*". SQLSTATE=08001 For additional information, press the help button. Correct the problem described in the help message and retry." and "Runtime Error 3146, ODBC call failed." Since a few people can connect, including me, this does not seem to be a server issue. These same users can all connect without problem to a different DB2/6000 server on a differnt machine so it does not appear to be a network problem (at least none that I can think of). I uninstalled and reinstalled DB2 and then defined the database again. Still no luck. Anyone with a suggest of where to take this next is welcome to jump in here with comments. > TTFN and Hold Fast! > Scott McLeod of MacLeod > Best Buy, Inc. > Sr. Database Architect > 7750 Flying Cloud Dr. > Eden Prairie, MN 55344 > > (952) 324-0031 (voice) > (952) 324-0828 (fax) > > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > ===== To unsubscribe, send 'unsubscribe' to [EMAIL PROTECTED] For other info (and scripts), see http://people.mn.mediaone.net/scottrmcleod ===== To unsubscribe, send 'unsubscribe' to [EMAIL PROTECTED] For other info (and scripts), see http://people.mn.mediaone.net/scottrmcleod
