Robert,
I create a symbolic link at install time to place the
software where I want. This is assuming a Unix
system:
ln -s ${desired directory}/IBmdb2 /opt/IBMdb2 (HP and
Sun
ln -s ${desired directory}/db2_07_01
/usr/lpp/db2_07_01 (AIX)
ln -s ${desired directory}/IBmdb2 /usr/IBMdb2 (Linux)
There is a white paper that describes how to do this:
http://www-4.ibm.com/software/data/pubs/papers/symblink/symblink.pdf
Please note that when it comes time to uninstall the
software, extra steps need to be taken to remove all
the binaries.
