2006 -------
I checked with "2.0.2 German version WIN XP: [680m5(Build9011)]"
"30/12/99" seams to mean "not recognized as date", but I do not always get that
message "Unique constraint violation", someties unrecognized date will be
changed to "30/12/99" without any comment.
It would be expected too much of OOo that it recognizes anything that might be
used as a date anywhere in the world as a date, but I agree, OOo should
recognize calender date if it is in accordance to offered formats from the
formatting dialogue (see screenshot) for the selected language.
"January 17, 2006" is such offered format (pls see screenshot), and so it should
be recognized and converted correctly.
I do not know whether this is an accepted limitation or a real bug. If it is a
known limitation of the current version, we should change issue type to
"enhancement".
