You need to build your own Perl. I had this problem last year and reported it to
Informix. Basically all of the fork and threading options in the ActiveState
build appear to make DBD-Informix fall over.
The only way I could get it to work was to rebuild perl from the source after
commecting out the Flavour=ActiveState entry in the config.
Bummer !!!
(If you manage to get it working with the ActiveState build please let me know
how.)
