Just curious...

Couldn't you load Cygwin and use gcc to compile the oracle module?
Could you then uninstall all that stuff and still have the module work?
Or, would you still need the Cygwin library (cygwin1.dll), i.e. would compiling it 
with gcc make it dependant on the Linux emulation layer?
