When you suspect a problem with dbmail:
- upgrade your dbmail installation. It's ancient !
- bump the DEBUG switches in dbmail.conf to 5
- post the relevant syslog lines so we can see what's happening
- post the fetchmail stanza so we can see what you're trying to do
When upgrading from pre-1.0 setups you have to migrate your tables. This
may seem daunting at first, but I posted a migration sql batch a couple
of months ago.
However,
In your case you're already anwering you own question. Dbmail tries to
deliver to the address in the To: header, and fails because its unknown.
The sigpipe is simply a rude way of telling you so. Something like
EX_TEMPFAIL would be more civil, and I suspect it to be so in recent
versions.
A quick read of the fetchmailrc and dbmail-smtp man pages tells me that
you may want to try:
mda "/usr/sbin/dbmail-smtp -d %T"
In that case fetchmail will expand the %T to the local delivery address
which should expand to [EMAIL PROTECTED] in your case.

Hello,
I have posted a message earlier this week, but got no reply. Maybe I
have to put it in different words.
The problem lies in a header like the following:
Delivered to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>;
Fri, 22 Aug 2003 11:41:11 +0200
To: [email protected]
If this message is fetched by fetchmail and passed on to DBmail, we get
an SIGPIPE error, and fetchmail stops.
We think the problem lies is the fact that the To: address does not
contain an address known by DBmail.
We are currently running dbmail-smtp 1.0rc3 as our MDA for techmail with
the option "-n To"
Any idea how we can work around this problem, as currently we have to
manually edit the email headers to get to the right user.
Thanks,
Marcel
