Ryan,

What make version are you using?? Make sure you're really using GNU make.

dbmail_2_0_branch_26_Mar_2005.tar

That's dbmail, not make!

what does 'make -v' tell you?

Make -v does not work just tries to make something and complains about no target so i must not have the make version you are talking about. However gmake looks better see below

tokyo.computerking.ca > /usr/install/dbmail #gmake -v
GNU Make 3.80

Again: what version of 'make' are you using??? Yours doesn't smell like it's GNU make? try 'man make'. For GNU make 'make -v' will tell you it's version:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ make -v
GNU Make 3.80
Copyright (C) 2002 Free Software Foundation, Inc.

So from the looks of it you're probably running some other kind of 'make', perhaps a native (??) bsd variant.

I keep getting this after i try to upgrade my FreeBSD port version with a (march 26) daily snapshot. ./configure --with-mysql finishes ok but when i do a make i get the error below.

make
"Makefile", line 594: Need an operator
make: fatal errors encountered -- cannot continue
