I am running centos as my OS for pgsql(dbmail is debian), and wanted to stay as packaged-based as I could on my machines. I'll probably run pgsql 8.1 when centos5 is released.

I'll run the vacuumdb command this evening, I have done that before, It usually does about the same as dbmail-util -cy, in that there is a slight improvement but not much.

Does anyone else have these issues with similar speed? or is it something specific to me, and I should be looking elsewhere for the issue?

Thanks,
Eric

I would recommend 8.1 or 8.2 very much. there are LOTS of performance
enhancements in both of those releases.

It is postgresql server, but not pg8, it is 7.4.8, so no autovacuum (as far
as I know).

If I upgraded to svn would I need to do anything besides just recompiling
the source? (just make and install)
