I've never seen that interface for searching. Or is that the
'saved-search' wizard? But you are correct, the 'saved search' does
allow using the IMAP search in TB.

Horde issues the 'x search charset iso-8859-1 text "charsettest" 1' as
an innocent test to see if the charset is supported. No other reason as
far as I can tell.
