if 3.1.x does not run on your machine i would at least
highly recommend *not* use the 3.0.2 release tarball

there where a *lot* of bugfixes after 3.0.2

watch out also which gmime version you are using, last summer
a downgrade to 3.0.2 ended horrible for Apple clients with
a specific gmime version of Fedora 18 and it took a lot
of time and energy to realize that :-(
