I’m trying to figure out how public mailboxes work. I have set up a public mailbox and I can send mail to it (using dbmail-deliver). I have subscribed 2 test users to the public mailbox and I am using RoundCube Mail to test.
New mail delivered to the public mailbox shows up marked as “unread”. Should each user subscribed to the public mailbox have their own set of “unread” flags? Or, is the “unread” flag shared between all users and the first one that reads the message changes it for all users? I have seen inconsistent results on this “unread” flag setting. In my testing, I have seen it not effect another user’s view of the message, but I’m thinking RoundCube might be cacheing the flag. I have gotten RoundCube errors when I try to toggle the flag saying the user doesn’t have permission but RoundCube toggles the flag anyway (again, I think RC may be cacheing flags). How are public mailboxes supposed to work in regards to the unread flag?
