As part of a complete waste of time I've transcribed the goings-on between Cumberland Blues and Hard to Handle from 4/22/71 Bangor, ME. For those who keep track of these sorts of things.
A lot of the following dialogue overlaps with each other: [PL] Okay now, we’re gonna DO a microphone MONITOR LEVEL TEST!! (BK – drums) [PL] And in order to do that we gotta turn off the main PA entirely… [BW] Oooha oh oo-oo [PL] …right? So that all we can hear is the sound coming out of the monitors [JG] Everybody understand? [BW] Them kinda sounds are the – oh now now it’s time…[Pig?] ??? somewhere here??? [BW] Richard and Fuller [PL] Richard and Fuller [BW] That’s exactly what I’m <whistles/noise from amp>– oh now it’s gone back to where it’s been before. That’s just what we were complaining about, those frequencies right in there [PL] Hey this one here is workin’ weird [drums] [BW] wooo! It’s all those talky talky frequencies up in the high mid-range we hate so much and would like to do away with so… [JG] right right… [BW] …desperately [JG] …so he’s ah talkin’ about the right – why do you keep turning me down? You always turn me down. [PL] You don’t count [BW] I – I kinda feel that way too. A little more bass and a little more… [JG] (goofy voice) Ah t-te-est.. [BW] …high treble…bottom and treble… [JG] (goofy voice) Te-est? T-t-te-estin’ [PL] (goofy voice) T-uh-test? [BW] (goofy voice) T-uh-test? [JG] (goofy voice) T-eh… [PP] Turn down the treble on Phil’s mic [JG] (goofy voice) T- t-eh – te-estin’! [PL] Tasting! [JG] I’d like to have it so I didn’t have to SHA-RIEK! and that kinda thang [BW] You do you do you do! [JG] We don’t want to have to shriek… [?] Please! [PL] …I mean…shriek [?] ahhh! Hooo hoo! Hoo-oo [BW] This is all quite understandably quite meaningless to all of you… [?] whoop! Whoop! [BW] …and that’s the way we like to keep it… [PL?] It’s quite meaningless to all us also… [BW] …keep ya guessin’ you know how it is [?] whoop whoop! [JG] How’s about turnin’ me up oh please?
