Hi Toby, I have the same problem here since I updated deal.II this morning (I'm actually on the distributed branch, but recent changes got merged). Running under gdb reveals that it is in the destruction of some global object in libdeal_II_2d or 3d which contains a std::string. This memory seems to be garbage. Maybe it is related to numerics/events.h (a recent change with std::strings in static objects).
