Hi, I read about your experiences with xlC 5 and 6 (http://www.dealii.org/developer/platforms/ibm_aix_xlc.html). In the context of another library, it appears xlC versions 7 and 8 have got similar issues, at least as far as explicit instantiation of templated member functions is concerned. I am wondering if anyone has been able to compile deal.II with xlC > 6 and if so, what was your approach? I had a quick look through deal.II's aclocal.m4 file, and I'm pretty sure we're already using the same compiler flags for xlC...
