I believe the University of Michigan has an open access course on FEM using deal.ii, and it uses version 8.2.1. The videos/course notes were first posted around 2014, but the supplemental help for using deal.ii was uploaded in 2015. It doesn't appear as though the material has been updated, and I'm not sure if Krishna and/or Greg intend to in the near future.
