BANGLADESH:

One gets death penalty in murder case

A young man was sentenced to death in absentia for murder of a neighbour
in Kotiadi of Kishoreganj 7 years ago. The speedy trial tribunal court
awarded the death penalty to Bipul and also fined him Tk 20,000. The court
acquitted Emilee, the paramour accused of assisting Bipul who stabbed her
husband Borhanuddin Bakul to death on April 7, 1997. Borhanuddin saw his
wife Emilee and neighbour Bipul in a compromising situation in his house
at village Pangashi. That earned him the wrath of both Emilee and Bipul
who conspired and murdered Borhanuddin, said the prosecution.
