INDONESIA/SINGAPORE----female faces death penalty

Govt urged to help migrant worker facing death sentence

The Indonesian Embassy in Singapore has been asked to help Sundarti
Supriyanto, a 23-year-old maid from Central Java who could face the death
penalty if found guilty of murder by a Singapore court.

"The embassy should provide her with qualified lawyers who will be able to
save her from the death sentence ...," Maya Manurung, an activist from
North Sumatra, said on Sunday.

Maya made the remarks ahead of Sundarti's trial next week on charges of
killing her employer, 34-year-old Angie Ng.

Sundarti is the 1st Indonesian maid to be tried on murder charges in
Singapore.
