As a last check for today, I gave the installer a go on an AlphaStation 255/233 (Avanti).

So in the de4x5 vs de2104x match, de4x5 wins by 2 to 1 on my sample of 3 old Alpha systems. My vote is clearly for the inclusion of de4x5 in the installer, even if it is disabled by default.
