Package: tasksel
Version: 2.59
Severity: wishlist
This is something I've been sitting on since the Dzongkha customization I
did in Bhutan.
There are currently two ways to define tasks:
Packages: package-1
package-2
package-3
and:
Packages: task-fields
Packages-list:
package-1
package-2
package-3
This seems inconsistent as also has as consequence that it is harder to
grep-aptavail packages to, for example, create a list of packages for
tasks in debian-cd.
I propose to change the first form to:
Packages: task-files
Packages-list:
package-1
package-2
package-3
Transition should be easy by checking for the old format at build time and
failing with a message to convert to new format.
Before implementation, there should probably be a check for applications
that parse task files and make sure those support both the old and new
format. Not sure how many of these there would be. Probably best to
implement this early in a release cycle.
Cheers,
FJP
