The d-i Partman system is a collection of modules which, in theory,
should make its management easier. In practice, notwithstanding, based
on list discussions, seems no one understands fully the
inter-relationship of the modules -- as sometimes/often when a change is
made in one/two elements of the set the outcome is not the intended one.
There are from a few to quantious examples in the lists.
Evidently, if Growlight was to be a candidate replacement for Partman,
it would have to be less complex and easier to 'be automatable' in a
seed file.
Yet, I do not know what happen to the project as it went silent.
Probably the developer of Growlight might be interested in working
with you on such an ambitious project[?!]
I do not plan to develop a new partitioner. I am intersted in small
modifications to the installer that would allow more flexibility
externally. I neither have the programming skills for a project that
size nor do I have the time for that.
