Package: sendmail
Version: 8.13.1-20
Severity: normal

After upgrade, sendmail does no longer work, but produces the following
messages in /var/log/mail/mail.err:

<q>
Dec 15 09:30:51 appia sm-mta[12942]: unable to write pid to
/var/run/sendmail/mta/sendmail.pid: Permission denied
Dec 15 09:32:11 appia sm-mta[12955]: iBF8WBh9012955: SYSERR(root):
collect: Cannot write ./dfiBF8WBh9012955 (bfcommit, uid=0, gid=105): Permission
denied
[..]
</q>

The reason is, that /var/run/sendmail/mta and /var/spool/mqueue are
owned by smmta and sendmail has no write access to them. Changing
ownership to root seems to solve the problem.

Thanks,

Paul Huygen
