Package: evolution
Version: 1.4.6-5
Severity: normal

When adding attachments on composing a new message, the mime type used
does not agree with the file type. For the two cases for which I have
noticed this: A jpeg file, identified both by extension ".jpg" and
by "magic number" (file command identifies as jpeg), is attached
using mime-type "application/octet-stream". On receipt is is then
identified as "unknown type attachment."
A Postscript file, identified both by extension ".ps" and
by "magic number" (file command identifies as Postscript), is attached
using mime-type "text/plain". On receipt it is identified as plain
text, not Postscript.
This is bad in that the receiving email client does not know how to
open the attachments, causing confusion for users who are not sophisticated
enough to examine the email source and choose their own application.
