click on Play because gst-register-0.6 has not been run as root. Since the
developers of rhythmbox refuse to recognize this as a bug, I must conclude
that the distro is responsible for making sure this command is executed at
install time.

This seems to be fixed with current GStreamer as the following command
demonstrates on my machine:
% grep -rl gst-register /var/lib/dpkg/info/gst*postinst
Hence, I'm closing the bug, please reopen it if necessary (or mail me).
