Package: junkbuster
Version: 2.0.2-0.2
Severity: important
Hi,
I've had some problems blocking a banner with junkbuster.
After some examination I have found that junkbuster does not
"see" all requested URLs.
I'm using junkbuster in combination with squid, so the request
chain is: firefox -> junkbuster -> squid -> destination server.
If I run junkbuster with debug set to 1 I can see the requested URLs
in the logfile. But I do not see all of them (compared with the squid
log).
As an example www.debian.org:
junkbuster:
/usr/sbin/junkbuster: GPC www.debian.org/
/usr/sbin/junkbuster: GPC www.debian.org/favicon.ico
/usr/sbin/junkbuster: GPC www.debian.org/debian.css
/usr/sbin/junkbuster: GPC www.debian.org/Pics/getting.en.gif
squid:

Though junkbuster does forward all requests to squid it does not
check all of them against the blocklist.
If junkbuster does not "see" (i.e. log) an URL, blocking of that URL
does not work. If I request the concerned URL directly junkbuster
"sees" it and blocking works.
As far as I can see firefox tries to use HTTP 1.1 with connection
keep-alive (I haven't found a switch in preferences to change this).
I don't understand this mechanism completely, maybe it is relevant
to the problem. But if junkbuster does not speak HTTP 1.1 it should
not acknowledge it.
Regards,
Uwe
