Would be nice if grub would start with a graphical screen. DebBlue
( http://debblue.debian.net/ ) is already used as the default for the
gdm theme the gnome splash and the gnome background. So you might also
consider adding it to grub

Splash images have been supported by Debian's patched grub for some
time now. Also the grub-splashimages package is available which
provides a few of them.
