Package: vmware-package
Version: 0.15
Severity: wishlist

Thanks for the nice packaging tool.
I am amased about the modularity and many features supporting many VMware
products,
but it was a quite cumbersome for the first time building vmware-server:
1) in order to get it working one needs several packages from various archives:
vmware-server, vmware-server-blobs, vmware-server-console and
vmware-server-kernel-modules.
This is not abvious, hard to remember and is not documented anywhere.
Moreover the sequence of downloading, building and installing various packages
is important
(i.e. one cannot install vmware-server without installing
vmware-server-kernel-modules
which cannot be built if vmware-server-kernel-source is not installed).

2) module-assistant is not mentioned anywhere (had to google a bit to discover
this,
even though I knew it for nvidia modules).

3) the target name "vmware-server-kernel" for module-assistant is hard to
remember
(I allways try vmware-kernel and wonder why it does not work), moreover
vmware-server-kernel is not mentioned in the list of module-assistant modules.

To fix all these, I suggest adding a sequence of example commands in the
make-vmpkg
manual with correct order. I realize that this is hard to cover all possible
combinations,
but at least one example clearifying possible dependencies and solutions would
be of great
help.

Thanks!
